The goal of the Yoga Fitted app is to motivate busy individuals with a tool to help them exercise at their skill level, that fits their schedule and interests. This is a UI project completed with a UX perspective.
How do you become healthy and enjoy the associated benefits on top of everything else in life? This app aims to help people fit exercise into their lives by accompanying them with routines, guides, and interactive examples. Moreover, finding time to exercise is challenging. With this in mind, customers can set the length of their practice to create a yoga routine in as little as 5 minutes.
Exercise is an essential piece of a healthy life. Building the habit can be challenging in several ways. It can be difficult to start if you don't have an understanding of where to begin or how to fit it into an already busy schedule. That's where Yoga Fitted comes in. You can choose your skill level, how long you'd like to practice, and dive in deeper to learn more about each pose. All the options of your exercise routine are customizable to make it easy to fit into your schedule. There are also challenges and badges to earn to build momentum and capture your motivation.
The purpose of a mood board is to communicate a distinct style and visual direction. This type of design artifact determines a style without spending too much time on establishing different screen designs. I created three mood boards then got feedback from others on them before selecting one to use.
Wireframes and prototypes are essential early in the design process. These design artifacts help conceptualize the project and indicate how the different elements work together.
For this project, I used a mobile-first approach. This allowed me to focus on the essential content that each screen needed to function. I started with the mobile wireframes then proceeded with low, mid, then high fidelity prototypes. Once the mobile version was completed I designed the tablet and desktop versions for the responsive application.
The style guide is an essential artifact to the design process. As designs grow, so does the style guide. It is an evolving system that provides a roadmap, instructions, and elements that are implemented in every aspect of the brand.
For this project, I started to build the style guide at the beginning and continued to update it as the project grew. Aspects of the visual and UI elements were added as the projects unfolded. This helped me to keep consistency through all the screens and the different layouts.
When it comes to UI designs, mockups present how your product will look on actual devices. When presenting to clients this allows them to visualize the product in action.
For this project, I compiled several different mockups to capture a variety of screens. Below are just a sample of the mockups that I produced.
This project completed the objective, which was to design the UI for a fitness application. It is flexible enough to use no matter how much time you have to exercise. It is perfect for people who are new to yoga or returning to their yoga practice but it can also be used by those who are experienced.
The purpose of this project was to sharpen my UI design skills and grow my visual design abilities. I was able to focus on visual design and the different elements like typography, color, and imagery. This experience focusing only on visual design allowed me to cement the theories that I had learned see the results throughout the process. I learned that attention to detail and consistency can make or break the design. Learning comes from exposure and repetition and now I have a better understanding of the UI process as a UX designer.
The next steps for this app would be to go through usability tests to see how people would use it and how they understand the design. With feedback from users, the design could be upgraded to ensure it works for a variety of individuals.
